The Winnindoo Country Fire Authority (CFA) Brigade will soon have a new and modern fire station delivering a big boost to the regional town’s emergency services.
Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh announced construction is now underway on the new Winnindoo fire station.
The new station will give volunteers a purpose-built base to support emergency response and help keep the community safe.
The station will include:
- two reverse-in motor bays
- gender-inclusive and accessible amenities
- new storage space
- a multipurpose training and meeting room
- car parking for volunteers
The station design also includes solar panels, rainwater tanks and is ready for future electric vehicle charging.
The Winnindoo Fire Brigade, part of CFA’s South East Region, plays a vital role in responding to fires, road accidents and other emergencies.
The project is being delivered through the Labor Government’s $88.1 million CFA Capital Upgrades Program, backing CFA volunteers with the facilities they need to respond quickly and safely.
This comes on top of Labor’s biggest ever Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP) grant round of over $31 million for volunteer brigades, units and rescue organisations to upgrade trucks, equipment and facilities.
