Labor is backing Bemm River CFA volunteers with a new tanker to strengthen safety and emergency response.
Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh today announced the arrival of the new tanker, which replaces an older vehicle and boosts the brigade’s operational capability.
The $375,000 medium tanker is a modern firefighting vehicle built to operate across both rural and urban environments.
The medium tanker features:
- 2,500L water capability with a powerful pump
- Front-mounted monitor
- Advanced protection system including water-spraying systems.
Medium tankers are essential in regional Victoria, allowing firefighters to respond flexibly and operate safely in tough conditions.
The Labor Government is investing $40 million in a CFA rolling fleet replacement program, announced in December 2024 to deliver modern, safer vehicles to brigades across Victoria.
In addition, Labor recently announced the biggest ever Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP) grant round of over $31 million for volunteer brigades, units and rescue organisations to upgrade trucks, equipment and facilities.
Applications for the 2026–27 VESEP round open Thursday 16 April 2026 and close Thursday 11 June 2026.
