Rye Cricket Club is set to put more runs on the board with the completion of a new cricket training facility at their RJ Rowley Recreation Reserve home.
Member for Eastern Victoria Tom McIntosh today officially opened the new facility, made possible by a $246,000 Allan Labor Government investment.
At the reserve the old, tired nets have been replaced with a 4-wicket facility in a new location, complete with soft retractable netting that can be used by the club and local cricketers or converted into a multiuse training space.
The new space, along with a new storage shed, gives club players more practice time at a new net training area that is in line with Cricket Australia standards. The space is also open to the community to practice batting and bowling outside club training times.
The Victorian Budget 2025/26 is providing $20 million to support the development of high-quality, accessible community sports infrastructure across the state.
This brings the Victorian Government’s investment in community sport and active recreation infrastructure to more than $2.4 billion since 2014.
Tom McIntosh MP acknowledged Mornington Peninsula Shire for its over $160,000 financial contribution and commitment to delivering the project.
